Christenings

What is a christening?

During a christening your child will be baptized with water. It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child and a special day for all your friends and family.

We would be delighted to be able to share this special day with you and we want your child’s baptism to mark the beginning of a long and happy association with the church. We hope that the welcome you receive as you take this step for your child will encourage you to think for yourselves what being a Christian might mean in your life and we are always happy to discuss this further with you.

When are Christening Services at St John's?

At St John's we welcome new members into the family of the church at Baptism on the Fourth Sunday of the month at 12 noon or in the 10am Sunday Eucharist. We also invite children and babies under 3 for a blessing and thanksgiving during the 10am Sunday Eucharist the month before the baptism takes place.
