Welcome to our website! St John the Evangelist, Hurst is part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Manchester serving the community of Hurst in Ashton-under-Lyne.
We are a welcoming and inclusive church who meet together to worship God and who seek to show God's love and care to others in our local community and in the world through our words and actions.
Church is now open for public worship (adhering to all necessary hygiene and social distancing guidance) from Sunday 12th July each Sunday at 10am. seating is limited to 20 - if you would like to worship with us please let Revd Liz know by Saturday at 7pm. Pastoral care of the congregation still continues through telephone conversations and prayer packs have been issued to the congregation and weekly newsletters will help us to keep in touch and help us to worship together each Sunday until we can all return to worship in the church building. If you would like to be included in the mailing list to receive the newsletters please e-mail Revd Liz at lizdevall@btinternet.com
If you would like to join us in prayer you can access the prayer booklets on the Prayer resources for worship at home page.
Join us as Revd Liz makes a 309 mile walk sponsored walk around Tameside and an inward spiritual journey and virtual pilgrimage to Lindisfarne. Hurst Virtual Pilgrimage Explanation. See the full Pilgrimage on this page
Take great care and we look forward to welcoming you to St John's when we are open once more
